Jacqueline is a working-class hero, highly respected by the community for what she's done: a few decades ago, she made the Coalition fund the neighbourhood renovation. She even sacrificed her personal life to make it happen. But today, the Renovation Office is nothing but the ghost of a long-since vanished dream to which Jacqueline is clinging.
Two of her three children turned their backs on her. Frankie, her last child, was even practically adopted by the local Suzerainist leaders Paris and Addison von Bergen.
Is it already too late to repair her parenting failures and finally reunite her family? Or will Jacqueline accept her fate and try even harder to achieve her dream of a dignified community, whatever the cost?
One question has been haunting her for a while now: how can she take care of a whole community when she couldn’t even take care of her own blood?

In the past, all three Verhoog children (Kit, Ira, and Billie) used their inheritance to get out of Revanchol. And let's just be honest here - Billie failed. However, Billie failed in so many positions and in so many creative ways that nobody can say they didn't try. And often, it was not some failure in skillset; it was a question of bad luck, bad coworkers and, in one peculiar case, a very badly timed release of a competing perfume. Still, all those failures obviously had some benefits because people outside of La Cage still keep investing in Billie's ideas, their new schemes, and failures. At this point, do people even expect them to succeed? What is behind their *success*?

Zacharie has worked hard their whole life, and they still do. An ordinary resilient worker, a symbol of pure diligence, who carefully nurtured their relationship to work and passed their ideals over to their children. They have gone through their share of rebellions, even against “those in power”, but all of these only led to more poverty or desperation. They were disappointed many times, but the biggest betrayal came after they helped with clearing the rubble after the People’s Pile nuclear plant disaster. In the end, nothing but the work really made sense. Their dissatisfaction with the young generation and other modern nonsense plaguing the La Rosa family is palpable. And given their age, there may not be much time left for Zacharie. But before their time comes, they plan to set some things right.

One of the most famous masters of Lo Manthang stick fighting, or at least they insist on that. Kiran Kim’s skill and fame had secured a very comfortable lifestyle in Safre, including a place at medical school for their only child, Tai, a fine child-in-law in Lian, and two beautiful grandchildren themselves due to go to Safre University. The first time some snot-nosed little rat in La Cage spat at Kiran’s feet, mumbling some slur, was the first time they realised that life was gone. First, Kiran felt useless, unable to work beyond scavenging in filth and only a burden on their family, but a series of sculptures helped them see promise in this otherwise grim new world. Kiran committed themselves to staying in La Cage and wants to help solve the thug problem permeating the neighbourhood by opening a dojo to give the local youths a productive outlet for their aggression. With so much standing in their way, can Kiran help make La Cage a safe world for their grandchildren?

When the family was choosing who would be sent to the Revachol, Eha didn’t volunteer. Regardless, they were sent despite their protests; it was Aaro's decision, and there was no way to oppose it. Their relationship has suffered the most, and while they are still in this mess together, far from their relatives and known world, Eha has not really been able to figure out how they view Aaro now. But the terrible tension at home only pushes Eha to strive even harder to resolve their situation - even if sometimes they do not put enough thought into their actions. Lately, they have been trying to connect with the other immigrants in La Cage and even to befriend the local Moralintern unit in a desperate attempt to get help in fighting against the system, so obviously rigged against all the foreigners. But what if sticking their nose into politics will bring unwanted attention? Shouldn't they just focus on their passion for patterns, both in street art and in numbers?

Nero was just one of the kids in La Cage years and years ago, one of the founding members of the Bearded Vulture Club. They made their dreams come true and actually built and kept a music club that lives under their leadership to this day. They combine a passion for music and an artistic flame with a down-to-earth understanding of what people actually like. And most importantly, massive amounts of grind. Nero works on the budgets, Nero does the posters, Nero spins the records, Nero makes the deals, and when needed, Nero sweeps the floors.
The thing is, this lifestyle is DRAINING Nero. They are overstressed and overworked, using nearly all the substances known to La Cage to stay moving. Despite their incredible commitment, people are not entirely happy; the youngsters are complaining about the *boring old mainstream disco*, and no matter what Nero does, they can't satisfy everyone. Nevertheless, they WILL put on the show of a lifetime. And then they will see if the people are finally pleased.
